""active aggressor""
""That means, while this was scary, there is no ongoing threat, and I believe our families are safe," Beshear said. "But please, pray, pray for those who have been injured" and for students who "might be rightfully scared.""
""As the parents, I cannot imagine receiving the call," he said."
A shooting at a Kentucky State University residence hall resulted in one student dead and another in critical condition. Frankfort Police responded to an "active aggressor" and the university went into lockdown while university police and the local sheriff's office secured the campus. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said the incident appears to be isolated and not a mass shooting, urged prayers for the injured and frightened students, and said families are safe. A press conference confirmed the suspected shooter, who is not a student, is in custody. University president Koffi C. Akakpo expressed gratitude to law enforcement and said the campus is in mourning. The incident follows multiple shootings at HBCU campuses during homecoming this fall.
