""number of flu-like cases""
""We know this is a worrying time for parents, but flu and similar illnesses are common during the winter months,""
Congleton High School in Cheshire closed for two days to carry out a deep clean after high levels of pupil sickness. The school contacted the UK Health Security Agency and infection control experts because of a "number of flu-like cases". The UKHSA advised that vulnerable or immunosuppressed pupils or staff should seek health advice and "may have been exposed to influenza or another respiratory infection". Remote learning will run according to the usual timetable, with work and additional teacher support provided via Teams messages or school email. Cheshire East Council is liaising with the school and has contingency staffing plans.
