"A girl was stabbed twice in the Coronado Middle School library Tuesday morning, and the suspected assailant a boy who is a fellow seventh-grader was taken into police custody, authorities said. A student on a stretcher was seen being transported from the school by Coronado firefighters. Police said she was taken to a hospital. Coronado police said officers responded to the campus on F Avenue about 10:20 a.m. for an incident involving two students."
"Police issued an updated statement in the afternoon, saying that investigators had interviewed several witnesses to the attack, which police said happened in the library during a class break. During the altercation, the male suspect stabbed the female victim twice with a pocketknife, the department said. The victim was transported to Rady Children's Hospital. The suspect is currently in custody."
