"We take our responsibilities to educate young people about British values extremely seriously, which is why we invited Mr Egan to speak to our students in the first place,"
"I was concerned to learn that a school may have been intimidated into cancelling a visit from their local MP."
"troubled by the message this sent to children - especially children from the Jewish Community"
"The promotion of inclusion and rejection of discrimination are enshrined in the CLF's core values, and all staff are expected to embody these values in their behaviour both inside and outside of school,"
Bristol Brunel Academy delayed a scheduled visit from local MP Damien Egan in September because of student safeguarding concerns linked to a planned pro‑Palestine demonstration. Ofsted determined the threshold for inspection had been met and inspected the school after expressing concern that the postponement sent a troubling message to children, especially those from the Jewish community. The Cabot Learning Federation said the visit was delayed after police advice and that it had been rescheduled. The federation is investigating claims that its inclusion and diversity coordinator shared discriminatory social media comments and reiterated its commitment to inclusion and rejecting discrimination.
