Cornell University celebrated its Merrill Scholars, outstanding seniors who credited influential high school mentors at a recent luncheon. Among them, Eleanor Richard highlighted her math teacher's impact on her confidence in STEM. Nearly 50 scholars honored their mentors from various backgrounds, emphasizing the importance of support in education. The event invited mentors from across the globe to Ithaca for a two-day program featuring professional development and celebratory activities, recognizing the critical role mentors play in the academic journey of these high achievers.

The scholars are graduating seniors selected by deans of the university's 10 undergraduate colleges based on outstanding scholastic achievement, evidence of leadership and a desire to positively affect the world.
Cornell brings the high school educators and mentors to the Ithaca campus, all expenses paid, for a two-day program consisting of an informal dinner, professional development, and a celebratory luncheon.
