Registration for the 2026-27 school year at the Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center opens Tuesday, Jan. 20. Nearly 1,500 students in grades 10-12 from over 45 Santa Clara County schools enroll annually and can earn college credit, obtain industry certifications, participate in internships and pre-apprenticeships, and work on projects that advance skills for higher education or careers. SVCTE is open to all Santa Clara County students, with free transportation to and from Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District schools; students register through their home high school counselor. New courses include AI engineering and a metals technology pre-apprenticeship with a Field Ironworkers Pre-Apprenticeship authorized by the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards. The Los Gatos Library will host a Cookbook Club event on March 26 in collaboration with Silicon Valley Reads under the theme "Bridges to Belonging," featuring programming for children and teenagers including STEAM sessions.
