"Local 99 represents about 30,000 teacher aides, campus aides, gardeners, custodians, bus drivers, cafeteria workers and tech support staff. These union members are the lowest paid in the school system."
"The bargaining teams of Local 99 and L.A. Unified also held lengthy face-to-face meetings Thursday and Sunday. The Sunday mediation session lasted from about 10 a.m. till about 9:30 p.m."
The Los Angeles Unified School District has reached tentative agreements with all three unions, averting a potential strike. Local 99, representing around 30,000 support staff, finalized its agreement early Tuesday morning. The agreements follow similar pacts made with United Teachers Los Angeles and Associated Administrators of Los Angeles. These deals require ratification by union members and the Board of Education. Local 99 members, who have been working under an expired contract since June 30, 2024, will receive pay raises and other concessions.
