The Independent covers major issues including reproductive rights, climate change and Big Tech while soliciting donations to fund on-the-ground journalism. The outlet investigates financial and political influence, produces documentaries such as 'The A Word' about American women fighting for reproductive rights, and keeps reporting free of paywalls so content remains accessible. A science teacher at the Christian School in Takeley, Essex, was banned from teaching for at least ten years after using a work laptop and a smartphone hotspot to bypass school filters and monitoring, accessing adult content and engaging in adult chat sites while supervising pupils. The ban followed incidents in November 2022 and further concerns in May 2023.
Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story. The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
