District settles antisemitism lawsuit
Sequoia Union High School District settled a lawsuit filed by six families alleging teachers and administrators failed to address rising antisemitism at Woodside and Menlo-Atherton high schools. The settlement requires teachers to clear any materials related to the Gaza conflict with an independent reviewer agreed upon by the district and parents over the next three years. The district will expand its antisemitism complaint investigation process by hiring an outside investigator, update policy to define antisemitism as prohibited discrimination, and provide mandatory annual antisemitism training for all student-facing employees. The district will pay $325,000, including attorney’s fees, and an outside investigator will oversee compliance for three years and conduct a formal 2024 investigation with a public report on legal compliance.
