Bayer funding available to education programs serving Berkeley students

"The company will provide awards to six programs ranging from about $100,000 to nearly $400,000 over five years. The funding begins in August 2027 and spans five years, providing a consistent source of support for STEAM work."

"This financial support helps make it possible for CRS to recruit, train and place 150 science mentors from UC Berkeley in seventh-grade classrooms throughout Berkeley public schools, said Teresa Barnett, the executive director of CRS."

Bayer is providing financial support to organizations advancing STEAM education for Berkeley students across all educational levels. Six programs will receive awards ranging from approximately $100,000 to nearly $400,000 over a five-year period beginning in August 2027. Organizations can apply through a streamlined process with interest forms due May 8 and full applications due November 13. Community Resources for Science, a previous funding recipient, uses Bayer support to recruit and train 150 UC Berkeley science mentors who work in seventh-grade classrooms throughout Berkeley public schools. The program emphasizes student engagement through hands-on experimentation, data analysis, and discovery-based learning.
