AUSD Notes: Alameda schools back in session, board meeting next week

Topics on next week's agenda include the naming process for the new Encinal Junior & Senior High School athletic field (see more information below) and the AUSD's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), a state-mandated plan that describes how a district's goals, actions, services and expenditures support positive student outcomes."

At the Dec. 9 Board of Education meeting, Ryan LaLonde became board president, Heather Little became vice-president, and Jennifer Williams became clerk. The first Board meeting for 2026 will be next Tuesday and will include the naming process for the Encinal Junior & Senior High School athletic field and a presentation on the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The LCAP presentation will focus on Goal 2: building relationships between families, students, and staff. Representatives from Wood Middle and Earhart Elementary will attend to discuss relationship-building efforts. The meeting will be at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. and live-streamed via Zoom, with agenda details on the AUSD Board Agendas & Minutes webpage. A ribbon-cutting for Encinal's new athletic field is scheduled Friday at 3:30 p.m. Transitional kindergarten and kindergarten information nights are planned next week for West End, East End, and all kindergarten families.
