Pittsburg offers rebates for construction of new ADUs
Briefly

The Accessory Dwelling Unit Rebate Program provides financial rebates to encourage construction of smaller new ADUs. Eligible property owners can receive up to $7,500 per new ADU or up to $15,000 for ADUs deed-restricted to low-income households. The program excludes units over 1,000 square feet and junior units. Rebates require obtaining a building permit and securing a certificate of occupancy within 18 months of permit issuance. Fifteen East Bay cities participate, with Pittsburg allocated about $190,407. Enrollment remains open through September 2026 or until funds are exhausted. ADUs are positioned to increase housing supply and affordability.
"We're excited to offer financial incentives and design tools to support their development City-wide,"
"ADUs have the potential to help increase housing supply, provide an affordable housing option for residents and their extended family, and allow those wanting to live independently yet close to family members or caregivers another option."
