Marc Koblentz and his wife bought a historic Craftsman home in Maywood, Arlington, in 2020, becoming only its second owners. Built in 1915, the home preserves original elements alongside modern upgrades. Maywood, with around 200 historic homes, offers a quaint community feel, despite being bordered by busy traffic. The Koblentz family, seeking proximity to the city and uniqueness in architecture, found more than just a home; they discovered a vibrant community that hosts various civic events, reinforcing a strong sense of neighborliness in the area.
Maywood might be named after the wife of one of the original developers, Hugh Thrift, whose nickname was May, Koblentz said.
Buying a historic home was not in our minds... it was a very unique house, not one of the cookie-cutter McMansions that you find further out.
