"FREMONT H Mart is planning a flagship store in Fremont that will serve as a prototype and introduce some pioneering features for the Asian supermarket chain, business executives said Tuesday. The new store will operate on two levels and include a food hall and dine-in restaurants in addition to its wide-ranging grocery offerings, according to H Mart and Vestar. "This flagship H Mart further reinforces Pacific Commons as a leading retail destination in Northern California and its continued evolution into a true shopping, dining, and entertainment district, said Rick Hearn, vice president of leasing with Vestar. A site plan for Pacific Commons shows that the H Mart will be located in a former Kohl's store at 43782 Christy St., according to a marketing brochure circulated by commercial real estate firm Lockehouse."

An East Coast group with ties to a real estate firm and an H Mart executive purchased the shuttered Kohl's site for just under $18.3 million. The concept blends elevated dining and community spaces to bolster Pacific Commons as a retail, dining, and entertainment destination.
