Golden Gate Fields could soon turn into a public park

The Trust for Public Land has reached an agreement to buy the 161-acre Golden Gate Fields site, which closed in 2024. This property will be transferred to the East Bay Regional Park District, creating a new public park along the bay's eastern shore. The purchase price is $175 million, with $20 million coming from the East Bay Regional Park District. The Trust for Public Land aims to secure additional funding for the acquisition and development of the site into a world-class bayside park.
