"The Bay Area's Osaka Marketplace has announced plans to debut a 42,000-square-foot grocery store in Pleasant Hill next November, according to a news release. The forthcoming grocery store is expected to open at the former Orchard Supply Hardware at 155 Crescent Plaza. "This dynamic new addition will enhance the shopping and dining experience for our visitors while celebrating the rich culture and flavors of Japan," Jon Schweers, a senior property manager of Downtown Pleasant Hill, said in the release."
"According to a Facebook post shared earlier this month by the city of Pleasant Hill, the new grocery store will use Orchard Supply Hardware's former garden center to create a semi-outdoor Japanese market hall featuring "mini restaurants" that will serve sushi, ramen and bento boxes. The grocery store is also expected to offer fresh produce, fresh seafood and imported goods, such as soy sauce. Once opened, Osaka Marketplace will join a roster of new eateries like Tracy-based Morgan Territory Brewing and Batter 'N Icing cupcakery."
"The Osaka Marketplace announcement comes as the Japanese grocery store steadily expands to all corners of the Bay Area. Next month, it is also set to open a sizeable 35,000-square-foot waterfront retail space at 919 Edgewater Blvd. in Foster City. The original location is in Fremont. The forthcoming Osaka Marketplace stores join a wave of Asian supermarkets that have opened around the Bay Area within the past couple of years."
