A coy Instagram post announced that Bar Panisse is walk-in only; diners can expect service Thursday through Sunday evenings from 4-10 p.m."
"In 2023, when Chez Panisse owner Alice Waters decided to end Cesar's sublease after 24 years so she could take it over for her own concept, fans of the popular Spanish tapas restaurant protested. Bar Panisse opened Dec. 11 at 1515 Shattuck Ave. in Berkeley as an offshoot of Chez Panisse. The bar serves small plates, entrees and cocktails, with draft-menu items including fritto misto and housemade potato chips. Service is walk-in only Thursday through Sunday from 4 to 10 p.m. Amelia Telc will lead the kitchen and Dylan O'Brien helped develop the drinks program. Bar Panisse occupies Cesar's former space, a change that sparked protests when Chez Panisse ended Cesar's 24-year sublease in 2023. Li's Knife Cut Noodle opened at 2126 Center St., serving handmade knife-cut noodles, dumplings and rice dishes with unlimited noodle refills.
