Zac Farber has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of Berkeleyside effective April 1, 2025, succeeding Pamela Turntine. He has a strong history as managing editor since 2021 and is recognized for his vision to enhance local journalism by incorporating community feedback. Cityside leadership expressed confidence in his ability to lead Berkeleyside into its 16th year, focusing on understanding and addressing the information needs of diverse Berkeley communities. To facilitate this engagement, Berkeleyside will host informal meet-and-greet sessions with Farber in various local settings.
"I am thrilled that Zac will be leading our newsroom as it enters its 16th year, and excited for this next chapter for Berkeleyside," said Tracey Taylor.
"Zac's vision for Berkeleyside includes a determination to hear directly from the city's different communities about their information needs and his strategy to implement it," noted Cityside CEO Lance Knobel.
"Again and again over the past four years, I've been inspired by the thought and rigor the team at Berkeleyside has brought to their work," Farber said.
"I'm excited to steward this beloved publication into its next chapter while ensuring it continues to serve our community effectively," said Zac Farber.
