On May Day, students, labor leaders, and local officials gathered in Berkeley to protest against the Trump administration and support local unions. A couple hundred students walked out of class to join a rally at Civic Center Park before marching to UC Berkeley. There, they participated in a demonstration with campus worker unions, chanting pro-union slogans and listening to speakers advocating for improved contracts for workers and the cessation of U.S. military aid to Israel, as well as urging the UC system to divest from Blackstone.
