The counterfeit tickets were placed on vehicle windshields around Broadway and 24th Street in Uptown. The nearby Oakland YMCA sent an email alert to its members warning about the bogus tickets. At least some vehicle owners paid $74 after receiving the fake citations. The identity and methods of the perpetrators remain unknown. The incident affected vehicles parked in public areas of Oakland neighborhoods.
