"Pochys Home Style South Indian, a casual restaurant on Berkeley's Solano Ave., has moved and reopened under a new name. The South Indian eatery is now known as Bangalore Blues and, accordingly, is bathed in deep blue hues down to the plates. Dishes like chicken biryani, masala dosa, idli (soft, steamed savory cakes made with fermented rice and lentil batter) and ghee dosa (crispy, crepe-like pancakes cooked in ghee) are on the menu. Pochys South Indian relocated on Solano Avenue and reopened as Bangalore Blues with deep-blue décor and a menu featuring chicken biryani, masala dosa, idli, and ghee dosa. Gusto opened in Berkeley as an Algerian halal fast-food spot serving merguez sausages, Algerian-style tacos, burgers, and sweet treats like maqrout alongside coffee and tea. Id Cafe opened and focuses on dosas such as egg dosa and mysore masala dosa, plus drinks like rose milk, masala chai, and kala khatta soda. Tokyo Central debuted in Emeryville as a Japanese grocery offering imported goods, to-go sushi, bento boxes, ramen, beauty items, pantry staples, and a dine-in Handroll Factory.
