"I'm just feeling happy, honestly,"
"Like, I've never felt this way, ever. Just to see them come this fast, it's crazy, right? The community I knew was always here. You just have to win and care - I think that's what happened."
"Let's Go, Oakland,"
The Oakland Ballers put community connection at the center of their identity while capturing a Pioneer League title. The team posted a 73-23 regular-season record, entered the playoffs, fell behind 2-0 in the championship series, and then won three straight games to clinch their first title. Fans celebrated with champagne in West Oakland and chanted “Let's Go, Oakland.” A City Hall rally, a parade around Raimondi Park, and a Prescott Market celebration featured local rappers Fijiana and JWalt, Mayor Barbara Lee, other city officials, classic cars, the Sass Silver and Sensational Squad cheerleaders, and The Crucible’s snail car. The Ballers were founded when two long-time Oakland baseball fans decided to invest in the city.
