Phil Hogan is a candidate to lead the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). He previously served as EU Agriculture Commissioner and later as EU Trade Commissioner. The FAO leadership post becomes vacant in the summer of next year, and voting for the position will take place in 2027. Interviews will be held as part of the selection process. Hogan is reportedly a serious contender and may have backing from the Dublin Government. The current EU Agriculture Commissioner, Christophe Henson of Luxembourg, is understood to potentially support Hogan's candidacy.
