Redwood Materials has launched Redwood Energy, its new energy storage business leveraging retired EV batteries to power companies, particularly AI data centers. Located in Nevada, this microgrid, the largest in North America, currently supplies a data center for Crusoe with 12 MW of power. Redwood aims to repurpose used EV batteries and plans to deploy 20 gigawatt-hours of grid-scale storage by 2028. With more than a gigawatt-hour of batteries already in stock and more to come, Redwood is positioning itself for significant market contributions in energy recycling and storage.
The entire event from the lights and DJ to the food and big screen were powered by the microgrid, demonstrating Redwood's commitment to clean energy.
