Once a relative haven for adult games, itch.io begins removing explicit titles
Briefly

Itch.io has initiated a crackdown on certain types of content, specifically targeting sexualized images and videos of real-life individuals and content glorifying sexual violence. AI-generated imagery resembling real photographic content of people is also prohibited. Violations can lead to permanent account suspension with no possibility of appeal. The deindexing process affects tens of thousands of adult games, limiting their visibility. While accessible via direct links, these games will not appear in searches or recommendations, significantly restricting their audience.
We don't allow hosting content that includes sexualized images or videos of real-life humans. Fictional, illustrated, and rendered content is generally fine, assuming it's legal.
Content glorifying sexual violence is not permitted. Depictions of minors, minor-presenting, or suggested minors in a sexual context are not allowed and will result in account suspension.
Violations that result in administrative action are permanent with no chance of appeal. Any funds on the account will not be eligible for payout. There is no second chance.
Tens of thousands of adult games that are technically available on the platform exist in the limited visibility limbo of 'deindexing.' They will no longer appear in searches.
