Irish fashion and giftware retailer Carraig Donn warns customers about scam ads
"Carraig Donn have been made aware of several websites posing as Carraig Donn. The websites look very genuine. They have our logo, products and all products are being sold at up to 90pc off. Some are advertising that we are having a closing down sale. Carraig Donn said the websites are part of a "sophisticated online phishing scheme" and warned that customers will not receive any goods and may not get their money back if they use them."
""The fraud websites have been advertising on social media platforms including TikTok, Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook plus Google Adwords," the retailer said. "It is our belief the fraud sites are capturing customers via these advertising channels." Carraig Donn said it is working with platforms to have the fake ads removed, and has reported the fake sites to authorities and relevant third parties to try have them removed."
Carraig Donn identified numerous fraudulent websites impersonating the brand, presenting logos, product listings and steep discounts of up to 80–90% to appear authentic. The fake sites advertise closing-down and winter sales and display fabricated customer reviews and ratings. The phishing scheme uses social media platforms and Google Ads to attract customers. The counterfeit sites lack genuine contact details and do not link to official social channels. Carraig Donn is working with platforms, authorities and third parties to remove fake ads and reported 31 suspect URLs while warning customers they may not receive goods or refunds.
