Amazon slaps 3.5% fuel and logistics charge on sellers because of Iran war | Fortune
""Elevated costs in fuel and logistics have increased the cost of operating across the industry," Amazon stated, indicating the broader impact of rising fuel prices on operations."
""We remain committed to our selling partners' success and to maintaining broad selection and low prices for customers," highlighting Amazon's focus on supporting its sellers while managing costs."
""The surcharge is meaningfully lower than surcharges applied by other major carriers," emphasizing Amazon's competitive approach in the face of rising operational costs."
Starting April 17, Amazon will impose a 3.5% surcharge on third-party sellers using its fulfillment services due to increased fuel and logistics costs. The company has absorbed these costs until now but will implement this temporary charge to partially recover expenses. The surcharge is lower than those of other major carriers. It will apply to U.S. and Canadian sellers using Fulfillment by Amazon, with additional charges for other services starting May 2. Other carriers like UPS and FedEx have also raised their fuel surcharges amid rising energy costs.
