Streamer Emiru Disputes Twitch's Account Of Assault Response At TwitchCon

"While Twitch claimed in a statement that the individual was "immediately" removed and banned, Emiru contests that the response was delayed and ineffective, adding that Twitch staff failed to intervene or check on her well-being afterward."

"According to Emiru, the man was allowed to cross multiple security barriers without interference and was only stopped by a member of her own team, not official TwitchCon staff. She expressed feeling "shaken" and more disturbed by Twitch's handling of the aftermath than the incident itself. Emiru also claims that multiple TwitchCon security staff witnessed the assault but did not act, and some were later heard joking about the event. She says she only learned hours later that the man had been apprehended."

A man bypassed multiple event barriers to approach Emiru at her TwitchCon meet-and-greet, grabbed her face in an attempt to kiss her, and was shoved away by a security guard. Twitch stated the individual was immediately removed, banned from returning, and permanently banned from Twitch and its events, and said it implemented enhanced security measures. Emiru says the response was delayed, that Twitch staff did not intervene or check on her well-being, and that some security personnel witnessed the assault but did not act and later joked. Emiru learned of the apprehension hours later after her manager intervened and felt shaken by Twitch's handling.
