Oxfordshire County Council's GigaHubs initiative has improved digital connectivity at 192 rural and public service sites, including schools and libraries. This project, the first major council-funded effort, has received significant funding totaling £7.25 million, enabling full-fibre connectivity to 175 public sector locations by the end of 2023. Neos Networks facilitated this connection through its fibre network and services, improving service provision efficiency and cost. Additionally, support was provided for IT equipment in libraries to bolster community engagement in the connected hubs.
Oxfordshire County Council has successfully fulfilled its GigaHubs initiative to enhance digital connectivity across 192 of the county's rural and public service sites.
The GigaHubs project was the first majority council-funded initiative aimed at improving connectivity at local sites, with significant investments from various sources.
Using Neos Networks high-capacity fibre network and services, 175 GP practices, schools, libraries and community centres were connected to full-fibre by the end of 2023.
The new fibre infrastructure enables faster provisioning of public services at a fraction of the cost due to Neos's network rationalisation of services.
