Nokia has been chosen by Cybernet, Pakistan's leading fibre broadband provider, to supply optical transport solutions for a new long-haul network. This infrastructure aims to deliver 1.2Tbps per wavelength and exceed 50Tbps long-haul capacity, connecting over 25 cities in Pakistan. The initiative will not only enhance domestic connectivity but also facilitate cross-border services for telecommunications operators in Central Asia. Additionally, Nokia's technology will support Cybernet's StormFiber service and enable a robust, low-latency network across the region, promoting Pakistan's digital transformation.
"By enhancing our network with cutting-edge technology, we're able to keep pace with our customers' rapidly evolving connectivity needs and deliver a superior end-user experience," said Cybernet chief operating officer Maroof Ali Shahani.
Cybernet is deploying Nokia's 1830 GX platform, integrated with 1.2T ICE7 coherent optics, to support its growing data demands for a terabit-scale infrastructure.
