Inside Sydney's Latest Library That Turns Public Space Into Living Architecture - Yanko Design
Briefly

The Yellamundie Library, designed by fjcstudio, embraces a modern approach to public libraries by offering a dynamic civic space in Western Sydney's culturally rich region. The library features a unique oval design that invites community interaction, with transparency that showcases various activities happening inside. Covering 5,000 square meters, it includes both above and below-ground areas filled with natural light, dynamic study zones, and flexible spaces tailored for diverse community needs, including multilingual resources and adaptable facilities that reflect the area's multicultural identity.
Its oval form and round windows break away from the rigid geometry of the surrounding urban blocks. This building curves like the nearby Georges River it's inspired by, creating a gentle pull for people to step inside.
Transparent from all sides, the library offers an open invitation to the community, showing people reading and collaborating inside, making it a functional and visual centerpiece.
