"SQLMesh enables data teams to define, test, and deploy SQL-based transformations, with built-in reliability and automation, designed for complex analytics and AI workloads."
"By contributing SQLMesh to the Linux Foundation, Fivetran is handing over control of future development to an open community model, enhancing collaboration."
"This contribution aligns with Fivetran's approach to Open Data Infrastructure (ODI), providing a standards-based method that gives organizations control over data and architectural flexibility."
Fivetran is transferring SQLMesh, an open-source data transformation framework, to the Linux Foundation, supported by six founding members. SQLMesh, acquired in 2025 from Tobiko Data, assists data teams in managing complex SQL transformations. The framework allows for defining, testing, and deploying SQL-based transformations with reliability and automation. This move aligns with Fivetran's Open Data Infrastructure approach, providing organizations with control over data and flexibility. SQLMesh features a Plan/Apply workflow akin to Terraform, ensuring controlled execution of transformations. The source code and documentation will remain accessible on GitHub.
