""Technical disruptions may seem like small inconveniences in isolation, but together they represent a significant drag on developer productivity," researchers said."
""Developers are becoming "unofficial IT support""
Developers spend roughly three hours per week on tech bugs, tool failures, outages, workflow problems, and unofficial IT support, equating to nearly 20 work days and about $8,000 lost productivity per developer annually. Forty-four percent of developers have missed deadlines due to technical issues. Glitches or software bugs are the top problem (55%), followed by platform or service downtime (47%), poor or missing documentation (35%), and tool integration issues (24%). A quarter of developers spend more time debugging than writing code. Over 60% build and maintain workarounds, and two-thirds report support duties harming productivity and focus.
