The approach moved workloads from ingress-nginx to Higress, an open-source API gateway built on Envoy and aimed at AI-native and cloud-native environments. The migration automatically converted ingress resources, annotations, routing configurations, and policy definitions while preserving compatibility and minimizing downtime. Ingress and gateway migrations are difficult because networking rules, traffic policies, authentication layers, and service routing become tightly coupled with application behavior. AI tooling analyzed existing ingress-nginx configurations, identified equivalent Higress constructs, and generated updated manifests automatically. Engineers validated and refined generated configurations instead of rebuilding environments manually, reducing complexity and operational risk while shortening timelines.
