ZED Ishikari occupies a 100% renewable energy zone in an industrial area along Ishikari Bay, Hokkaido. The project responds to local challenges such as inclement climate and Ishikari River flooding through resilient design strategies. The site reflects the region’s shift from environmental impact caused by settlement and industry toward harnessing natural energy. The project covers 5,354 m² and reached completion in 2024 for client KYOCERA Communication Systems Co., Ltd. The design and delivery involved Taisei Corporation as contractor, a multidisciplinary design team, specialist engineers, and multiple manufacturers supplying building systems and materials.
