Wasl Tower rises 302 metres on Sheikh Zayed Road as a 64-storey mixed-use landmark designed by UNStudio with structural engineers Werner Sobek. The tower’s form is derived from classical sculpture, using the contrapposto pose scaled to the building’s height so the geometry appears to rotate from different viewpoints. Three massive 300-metre shear walls connected by four outriggers enable controlled twisting while supporting a flexible mixed-use floorplate. The site opposite Burj Khalifa is connected by a new pedestrian bridge to the Burj Khalifa metro station, creating a civic node. The program includes residences, offices, a hotel, restaurants, and entertainment, with public spaces elevated above street level. The facade uses a lace-like grid of glazed clay fins, creating visual texture and performance through a ceramic system.
