These Fixtures by Maarten De Ceulaer Play With Light's Mechanics
"Modular Lighting Instruments is proud to present a refreshed take on an iconic collection of fixtures - the Impulse Collection by Belgian designer Maarten De Ceulaer - originally born from an experiment observing how LED light behaves and disperses. Updated for 2025, De Ceulaer partnered once again with Modular Lighting Instruments to expand and refine the collection, which is now available in every RAL color, opening the door to unprecedented customization."
"Abstract geometric forms, available in both round and square configurations, house a linear light that creates subtle gradients of illumination and shadow. Rather than minimizing these irregularities, the design elevates them, allowing layered shadows to become the focal point-an almost halo-like energy radiating outward from the fixture's core. The collaboration between Modular Lighting Instruments and De Ceulaer feels instinctive, rooted in a shared commitment to architectural lighting and an enduring curiosity about how light shapes space."
The Impulse Collection, designed by Maarten De Ceulaer and updated for 2025 by Modular Lighting Instruments, expands an LED-based experiment into a fully customizable fixture range available in every RAL color. Three curated hues — RAL 6019 Matt, RAL 3012 Struc, and RAL 6004 Glossy — integrate into diverse interiors. Abstract round and square forms house a linear LED that creates subtle gradients and layered shadows. The design intentionally emphasizes these irregularities, producing halo-like radiance and atmospheric effects. The collaboration emphasizes architectural lighting, minimal fixture shapes, and a refined play of light and shadow that prioritizes ambiance.
