MUHLY Celebrates Texture At Afternoon Light
"The Pokal Collection is inspired by the work of Jean Royère, who valued flair and style in a way that bled into many of his designs. Anticipating the turn towards organicism, his biomorphic pieces still inspire designers to this day. The celebration of natural growth is a strong theme within the MUHLY catalogue, reflecting not only nature, but holding a mirror to ourselves"
Texture is presented as a design quality that can be perceived beyond touch, with the brain interpreting visual cues as familiar sensations. MUHLY transforms material plans into recognizable configurations through collaborative, handmade-to-order production. Oxidized copper is paired with cherry planks, made in Austin, TX or Philadelphia, PA. The Bon Console draws from 1930s vintage cabinets, using extrusions and metallic chrome details aligned with inset circles. The Dekko Collection takes cues from early 19th-century Western US chair designs, emphasizing a broad skirt, holes, and form simplicity. The Prairie Pendant uses galvanized steel impressions to create raised or hollow marks that shape light direction. The Pokal Collection reflects Jean Royère’s flair and biomorphic organicism, celebrating natural growth and mirroring human identity.
