The Tourist Center sits within the Hakka Literature Garden in Gongguan, Miaoli, on a site shaped by local Hakka settlements and mining heritage. The building occupies the Houlong River valley and provides expansive views across the river toward a historic mining pit. A cherry blossom scenic trail connects the center to nearby mountains and structures outdoor circulation and viewing sequences. The design seeks to bridge natural landscapes and cultural settings by referencing Hakka settlement patterns and mining history while accommodating visitor functions. Architectural leadership worked with MEP and HVAC consultants to integrate building systems and ensure operational performance for tourism and education programs.
