Laoyuting Pavilion sits on the southern side of the Water-Forest Art Zone in the Laoyu River Wetland Park at Dianchi Lake. The pavilion initially functioned as the entrance to the 2024 Dianchi Art Season: "Home and Future", then remained permanently as a spatial marker and visitor resting place. The adjacent wetland contains groves of bald cypress and operates as the city's final natural filtration stage in water-purification infrastructure before water reaches Dianchi Lake. The wetland supports many small fish and attracts city dwellers who fish there for leisure. The pavilion's role as a resting spot for fishers led to its name Laoyuting Pavilion.
