Collaboration in design often prioritizes quick commercial success, which can dilute more considered ideas. Some partnerships reduce a designer’s voice to surface treatment, while others create a more democratic, fully formed environment. Kelly Wearstler’s upcoming collaboration with H&M HOME takes the latter approach, debuting through a conceptual installation during Milan Design Week. The collection includes H&M HOME’s first appearance at the fair, Wearstler’s Milan Design Week debut, and H&M HOME’s first designer collaboration that pairs large-scale furniture with smaller objects. The shift in scale supports a spatial proposition, with pieces in wood, metal, ceramics, marble, and textiles. Objects and furniture are designed to relate to one another, shaping rooms and supporting how people move through space.
