Isla Teja Performance Pavilions / Dum Dum Lab
"The proposal is presented as a strategy for territorial and landscape activation in the eastern sector of Isla Teja, in Valdivia, in the stretch between the Architecture building of the Universidad Austral de Chile and the edge of the Rio Calle-Calle. Through the design and construction of three pavilions, the project aims to consolidate this area as a space for walking, pausing, and gathering, incorporating new architectural references that engage with the river landscape and its high ecological value."

The project activates the eastern sector of Isla Teja in Valdivia along the stretch between the Universidad Austral de Chile Architecture building and the Rio Calle-Calle. Three pavilions are designed and constructed to consolidate the area as places for walking, pausing, and gathering. The pavilions introduce architectural references that respond to the river landscape and its high ecological value. The work involves principal architects Katherine Caceres and Francisco Calvo, Dum Dum Lab, and a large construction team of professors and students from Escuela Arquitectura UACH 2022. The intervention seeks to integrate built elements into the riverside ecology while creating accessible communal spaces.
