I Lived in Asheville, North Carolina, for 10+ Years-and This Might Be the Most Peaceful Place in the City
Briefly

"I was wandering through West Asheville one day, past vintage storefronts and sun-washed sidewalks, when I noticed a doorway overflowing with green. Ferns spilled outward, vines climbed the windows."
"At first glance, Flora looks like a beautifully curated plant boutique. But linger for more than a moment and the space reveals itself as something more. It's part botanical studio, part design haven, and part neighborhood gathering space. "I always wanted to have a little shop that was different from your typical flower shop," says founder Melissa Thomas. Flora will celebrate its 14th anniversary on Feb. 5, but the business began even earlier than that,"
Flora Botanical Living occupies a doorway-filled West Asheville storefront overflowing with ferns, vines, and curated plants. The space functions as a botanical studio, design haven, neighborhood gathering spot, and full-service floral and design studio. The team creates wedding installations, living walls, and offers a flower bar where customers assemble bouquets wrapped in thick paper tied with a lavender-adorned bow. Founder Melissa Thomas evolved the business from a studio-based florist operation run out of her West Asheville home and the shop will mark its 14th anniversary on Feb. 5. The shop encourages slowing down and sensory pleasure.
