"The result is a piece that challenges the very premise of comfort, inviting the sitter to participate in a delicate balance between familiarity and disquiet. The chair's slight silhouette, rendered in solid wood and finished in charcoal black, is accented with Fyrn's patented Copper Bronze brackets, a nod to the precision and engineering that ground all of its designs. And yet, with its seat all but gone, what remains feels less like a place to rest and more like a sculptural embodiment of anticipation."
Fyrn transformed its Mariposa Chair into the EDGEOFYØR Seat by removing nearly 80 percent of the original form to create a skeletal, tension-filled silhouette. The design explores the bodily effects of fear, encouraging raised shoulders, shortened breath, and heightened attention rather than relaxation. Solid wood construction in charcoal black combines with patented Copper Bronze brackets to emphasize craftsmanship, visible joinery, and engineered precision. The near-absence of a seat functions as an intentional withholding that produces psychological charge, asking sitters to engage with discomfort and anticipation as sculptural experience rather than repose.
