DiscoRectangle Turns Abstract Geometry Into Color-Drenched Rugs
"There are certain design moments that call for restraint and simplicity, leaning into minimalist or even brutalist sensibilities. And then there are those that embrace a joyful "more-is-more" philosophy, where color and form do the heavy lifting. DiscoRectangle, the new hand-tufted rug collection by interior designer Sam Buckley in collaboration with Italian rug makers cc-tapis, confidently lands in the latter camp, channeling abstract geometry and the vibrant energy of dance floors into a series of bold, immersive pieces"
"Color is where DiscoRectangle truly comes alive. Bright pops of yellow, pink, mint, and blue collide with deeper, moodier shades of green, brown, and burgundy, creating compositions that feel vibrant yet grounded. Buckley draws on a wide range of references - from dance music and collectible design to historic craft and European heraldic hues - resulting in a palette that is both playful and steeped in visual tradition. The effect is surreal and statement-making, designed to inject warmth, movement, and personality into any space"
Sam Buckley collaborated with Italian rug makers cc-tapis to create DiscoRectangle, a hand-tufted collection centered on the discorectangle (stadium or pill) form. The series comprises four rugs and a runner that balance architectural shapes with fluid, overlapping graphics. Each piece is handcrafted in Himalayan wool for rich texture and durability. The palette pairs bright pops of yellow, pink, mint, and blue with deeper greens, browns, and burgundy. Design references include dance music, collectible design, historic craft, and European heraldic hues. Variants such as DiscoRectangle Maxi, Mini, and the circular Disco Ball inject warmth, movement, and personality into interiors.
