"As an extreme coastal beach environment, the park site must solve for flooding and constant salt spray."
"The park had to solve for multiple issues related to permitting and flooding."
Brooks + Scarpa led a multidisciplinary team for a Fort Lauderdale coastal park project that required robust responses to flooding and constant salt spray. The project team included designers, principals, project architects, and specialists in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, wayfinding, specifications, and facade engineering. The City of Fort Lauderdale, Community Redevelopment Agency, and Parks and Recreation served as client/owner. The site conditions demanded design strategies and technical coordination to meet permitting requirements and long‑term resilience in an extreme beach environment. Project roles and consultants were organized to address both environmental exposure and regulatory constraints.
