The Aeriform Armchair blends sculpture and seating with a design inspired by bird wings. Its ribbon-like silhouette wraps around the sitter for support and aesthetics. Developed in virtual reality, the armchair focuses on ergonomics through extensive testing with participants from 18 to 60 years old. The chair supports various postures without mechanical adjustments. The process involved CNC milling from XPS foam and layering fiberglass for strength, while incorporating a Lazy Susan into the base for added functionality.
The Aeriform Armchair showcases thoughtful design that merges sculpture and seating, inspired by bird wings with a ribbon-like silhouette that offers support and visual appeal.
Comfort and aesthetics were prioritized equally in the design of the Aeriform Armchair, incorporating extensive ergonomic research and physical testing to accommodate various postures.
