53.3% of L&D decision-makers report integrating AI or new learning technologies effectively as their biggest challenge, while four in five describe current learning technology as at least somewhat effective. The gap comes from measuring learning technology by one set of standards while expecting outcomes defined by different business criteria. Learning technology dashboards often emphasize stability, access, and basic usability, while business stakeholders demand capability, productivity, and proof of impact. AI has moved from demo use to delivery pressure, with 43.1% using AI across learning processes and 14.8% fully embedding it in L&D operations. Investment plans target AI-powered authoring and coaching tools, but enterprise integration raises concerns about systems, safety, responsibility, and failure handling.
