Cowboys release former All-Pro CB Trevon Diggs " Inside The Star
"The Dallas Cowboys this afternoon waived former All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs. If he clears waivers, the Cowboys will be on the hook for dead cap hits of $12M this season and $5.88M in 2026. Diggs played in only eight games this season, including six starts, after missing the first half of the season due to recovery from a torn ACL that occurred late in 2024."
"He also missed time not too long ago after he suffered a concussion due to an at-home accident where a TV mount fell on his head. In eight games this season, Diggs has recorded 25 combined tackles. The two-time Pro Bowler has not enjoyed the success in recent years that was present in 2021, when he tabbed a league-high 11 interceptions while being named First-Team All-Pro."
"Things had no been going well with Diggs and the front office, but this is a move that I maybe thought would happen in the offseason, but here we are. Now the Dallas Cowboys are heading into 2026 with maybe a new defensive coordinator, no Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs. Diggs was not the best. I understand that, but this team better hope they hit on this draft and maybe add a player or two in the secondary because it is horrible."
The Dallas Cowboys waived cornerback Trevon Diggs, creating dead cap hits of roughly $12M this season and additional charges in 2026. Diggs appeared in eight games this season, recording 25 combined tackles and no interceptions or passes defensed. He missed the first half of the season recovering from a torn ACL suffered late in 2024 and also missed time after a concussion caused by a falling TV mount. Diggs has not matched his 2021 performance when he led the league with 11 interceptions and earned First-Team All-Pro honors. The Cowboys face a pressing need to retool the secondary before 2026.
