Schottenheimer emphasized a teacher who is a great communicator, passionate about football, full of energy and able to explain complex, three-phase defensive responsibilities in simple terms and adapt explanations for different learners. Jerry Jones said prior head-coaching experience is not required and that the team could hire a first-timer.
